The story so far
As early pioneers in the crossover between electronic music and orchestral performance, Symphonica have been captivating audiences for over a decade. From Dundee to Dubai we have performed worldwide to over a million people!
After a chance collaboration in Armenia (yes, Armenia!) between 4 x World DMC DJ Champion Mr Switch and composer Miles Hancock, the idea for the orchestra was born and our first ever show debuted at Boomtown Festival in 2015. Since then we have shared stages with the likes of Basement Jaxx, Example, Groove Armada, Todd Terry, Sam Divine and DJ Hype, performed at venues including Glastonbury festival, Barrowland Ballroom, Ibiza Rocks, Camp Bestival and, Melkweg Amsterdam, and recorded at some of Europe’s finest studios, including Abbey Road and Staar player villa Ibiza.
Our ethos has always been to keep shows 100% live. No click tracks, no pre-recorded DJ sets… pure performance.
Our orchestra is a family of the most talented, fun and innovative musicians, composers and arrangers, supported by some of the finest technicians in the land.
Meet The Team
Miles writes, arranges and directs the music we perform in Symphonica. Miles’ music and arrangements have been performed across the globe at venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Abbey Road, Glastonbury Festival, Ronnie Scotts, Yerevan Opera Theatre, The O2 Arena, Brixton Academy, Metro Theatre Sydney, Ibiza Rocks, Barrowland Ballroom, Manchester Co-Op Arena and Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
He has worked with a diverse collection of musicians including Paul Weller, Mel C, Laville, Omar, Bob Mintzer, Malukah, The Zutons, Reeps One, KSI, Ella Henderson, JFB and Tom Grennan.

Christina is an Orchestral Manager and French horn player and has been part of Symphonica since the beginning, over 10 years ago. She has fixed orchestras for shows across the UK and further afield working in venues such as The Royal Festival Hall, Birmingham’s Symphony Hall and Glasgow’s Barrowlands. Internationally she has toured orchestras to The Netherlands, The Czech Republic, Italy, Ibiza and Dubai. When she’s not with Symphonica, Christina also manages the Performance Department at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Mr Switch aka Anthony Culverwell is one of the most accomplished & talented DJs ever to come out of the UK – as a 4 times World DJ Champion, 7 times UK champion, and the first DJ in history to have performed at the BBC Proms, he’s achieved a lot more than most! A favourite at festivals, Switch has performed closing DJ sets at Bestival, Shambala and Glastonbury. Radio credits include DJ mixes & performances for Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss FM & BBC Asian Network. Numerous TV appearances include BBC Breakfast, Go For It (ITV), I’ve Never Seen Star Wars (BBC) & Blue Peter.
